Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk , or milk alternative
  • 1 banana, cut in half {half used for the smoothie bowl, half for the toppings}
  • 1 – 3.52 oz. acai fruit
  • 1/2 cup frozen fruit , of your choice
  • 1 Tablespoon chia seeds, {optional}
  • 2 Tablespoons flax seed meal , {optional}
  • Ice , to thicken
  • Honey , as a sweetener if needed
  • flaked coconut, Unsweetened
  • Fresh fruit
  • Chia seeds
  • Granola
  • Honey
  • Peanut Butter

Instructions

  • Run the frozen acai packet under warm water for 5-10 seconds, until the acai starts to break apart. This helps it blend more easily.
  • Place all the smoothie ingredients (milk/alternative, banana, acai fruit, frozen fruit, chia seeds, flax seed meal, and ice) into your Vitamix blender in the order listed. Begin by turning your Vitamix to speed 1 and pressing start. Gradually increase the speed until it reaches its maximum. Blend for approximately 45 seconds, or until the smoothie achieves your desired thick and creamy texture. Use the tamper as needed to keep ingredients moving.
  • Carefully pour the thick smoothie mixture into a bowl. Now comes the fun part: garnish generously with your favorite toppings! Consider fresh fruit slices, an extra sprinkle of chia seeds for added texture and nutrients, a handful of shredded coconut, a decadent drizzle of peanut butter, and a touch of honey for natural sweetness.

Notes

  • You can use whatever fruit combination you want – I like to pair things like blueberries and pomegranate seeds together, strawberry and mango together, or pineapple and mango together with the acai. Feel free to use your favorite combination!
  • I used milk in my smoothie bowl but feel free to use whatever dairy or dairy alternative you like, such as almond, coconut, or oat milk.
  • Get creative with the toppings – my kids love to pick their own toppings, making it a fun and interactive activity for the whole family.
